Married in 1976, Gary and Theresa Baker have three children, Heather, Hallie, and Travis. They also have two grandsons, Andrew and Conner, both Heather's.
Gary attended Litchfield Senior High School in Litchfield, IL where he was very active in building trades. After graduating in 1975 he was employed by a local contractor building numerous homes in the Litchfield area. He then started his own business in 1978 at the age of 21. He also began working with his brother-in-law remodeling homes and then teamed up with another local contractor, remodeling and building numerous custom homes.
Theresa primarily works in the offices dealing with sales and bookkeeping. Gary does the general contracting and customization of each home to fit the each individual customer's needs.
Travis has been working with his dad since he was old enough to swing a hammer. In 1984, at the age of 4 he helped his dad build their own house. At every opportunity since then he has been at his father's side. Even during the summers while he was a teenager Travis would be there to help. Travis also graduated Litchfield High School in 1998. He enrolled in the highly acclaimed ITT Technical School in Earth City, Missouri. In 1999, he received an Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Drafting. He has worked at two separate engineering firms.
Gary and Theresa's business started to grow fast and they needed some extra help and expertise. Travis at the age of 21, like his father, decided he also wanted to become a partner in his parents' business. He enjoyed drafting but loved working with his hands and seeing a project through from start to finish. In October 2001 Travis became a partner in Baker Custom Homes. He and his father have remained side by side, building more than 41 homes (and counting) together!
Heather and Hallie help Theresa with bookkeeping and preparing new homes for the customers' arrival. Grandsons Andrew (5) and Conner (2) help Grandpa and Uncle Travis clean up job sites, and like to help Grandma out in the office. They love pretending they are picking out cabinets, carpets, siding, etc.
